“Tried Really Hard As a Parent”: Cormani McClain’s Mother Opens Up Days After Taking Shots At Deion Sanders’ Program

Former five-star CB Cormani McClain set the CU community ablaze on Tuesday when he announced that he would be entering the transfer portal. After the CB made the move to the portal, his mother took to X to bid Deion Sanders and the Buffs goodbye but she was also open about how much she wanted this to work out.

Coach Prime lured Cormani to CU after his commitment to Miami which became one of the biggest flips of 2023. However, the top-tier CB did not start the first few games for the team.

This raised a lot of eyebrows only to be revealed later that McClain wasn’t preparing for the games or showing up to the meetings. Later in the season, he made four starts after Deion saw improvements in his work ethic.

Now that Cormani has entered the portal, his mother Kaishay tweeted, “Cormani has no one working under him or for him, he & I will be contacting the coaches directly!!! Thankful for all opportunities And to Deion Sanders & the buff nation you guys are still appreciated no matter what! No lost love here! God bless.”

Responding to her tweet, Deion Sanders wrote, “Much Love Mama and I pray that all things work together for the good.”

Despite all the well wishes, the bitterness of leaving CU could be seen in Cormani’s mother. A CU fan wished they could have stayed in Boulder, to which she replied“I tried really hard as a parent, God knows I did but I appreciate that frfr.”

That said, it didn’t feel as if the two parties parted on very good terms since just a few days ago, Cormani’s mother was believed to be taking shots at Coach Prime’s program in a cryptic tweet.

Bad Blood Between Deion Sanders and Cormani McClain?

The former five-star CB clearly didn’t see the season pan out the way it did under Deion Sanders. His frustration could be witnessed since he didn’t practice with the team during spring.

Although Coach Prime had his reasons to bench Cormani for multiple games in his debut season, but the CB’s mother didn’t feel as if the young player was appreciated in the program.

“Gotta be somewhere where your appreciated and not just tolerated!!! God take the lead, we right behind ya,” Kaishay Cormani tweeted when the transfer portal opened.

After entering the portal, Cormani said he has heard from 11 schools but as per 247Sports analyst Tom Loy, USC and USF as the top two spots to watch for the CB.

Later on he went on to transfer to the University of Florida. The Gators seemed like a practical option for the former five-star CB since it is just 120 miles away from his hometown in Lakeland, Florida.

As a Gator, he has shown glimpses of his talent as a sophomore and appears to be a promising star for the program.

Allegations Against CU

Just a few months after McClain’s transfer to the Gators, a report came out suggesting that there was more to the McClain-Coach Prime drama than what met the eye.

According to the Athlon Sports report, a former CU player stated, “Cormani was taking a lot of heat from everyone. At the same time Coach Prime was saying he was in the doghouse and needed to improve.” The report also stated how McCalin and Shilo had bad blood especially after their blowout loss against Oregon State.

It was though a wild report but there hasn’t been any further developments, agreeing or disagreeing with it.
