Katt Williams set the Internet ablaze after unleashing himself on Shannon Sharpe’s podcast Club Shay Shay. He dropped bombshells on his fellow comedians, exposing things no one had ever noticed before. Like black artists wearing women’s dresses. Who would have thought fans would swoop Deion Sanders in this discussion too?
The X users were taken aback after connecting the dots of Katt Williams’ testimony and realizing how on multiple occasions they have seen black artists cross-dress for the big screen.
Katt even claimed that he too was pursued to wear a woman’s dress by Martin Lawrence for Big Momma’s House 2, which he turned down. However, many other comedians accepted wearing dresses which Katt claimed only gave their careers a boost in Hollywood.
Deion Sanders’ Old Video Resurfaces
Amid all the chatter about the wild dress theory, one fan pointed out how even Coach Prime wore a woman’s dress once to entertain his fans. The tweet read, “Deion Sanders was in a dress a few years ago. In now, he’s a head coach at a D1 college.”
The video in question was when Deion Sanders performed Madonna’s ‘Like A Virgin’ on one episode of Lip Sync Battle on Spike TV. The NFL legend for that performance not only wore a woman’s dress but also donned a blonde wig.
The celebrity against him during the battle was none other than Justin Beiber, who performed Fergie’s ‘Big Girls Don’t Cry’. The episode aired on July 2015.
That said, the hot takes by Katt Williams don’t apply to Deion as the NFL legend isn’t associated with Hollywood or other comedians on the big screen. Deion has made a name through his persona on the field be it as a player or as a coach.
Despite the fan bringing up Deion’s performance into the conversation, there isn’t any evidence that proves the NFL legend was pursued to wear the dress. In fact, from his electric performance, it seemed the dress was nothing but a glimpse of Prime entertainment.
Katt Williams Doesn’t Pull Punches on Fellow Comedians
The Katt Williams episode on Club Shay Shay has become one of the most iconic podcast episodes ever made as Katt himself promised during the shooting of the interview.
“I sure hope I have Club Shay Shay after this year,” Shannon said fearing his podcast would get canceled for giving Katt Williams a stage to throw big jabs at others.
“It’s going to be in a dimension it’s never been. The greatest thing floating in 2024, mark the words,” Katt promised. Rightly so, the episode became a major hit as it has since garnered more than 84 million views.
Shannon and Katt from that episode alone made a few million dollars in revenue, which Shannon had flexed through his new Rolex watch which he purchased in celebration and gifted the same to Katt.
The podcast episode was bound to do well on YouTube as Katt didn’t blink twice before name-dropping any artist he deemed “sold their soul” to Hollywood.
One celebrity in particular on his list was Kevin Hart who Katt implied denied wearing a dress for the sake of entertainment but then went on to wear one during his skit on SNL.
“Kevin told he won’t go wear a dress until they offered him the dress and then he put it on. And what did he say after he wore it, ‘I made my own decision.’ Duhh but you didn’t make it before they brought it up, did you?” Katt said.
Katt Williams tried to make a point that there appears to be a clear pattern for whoever wore the dress would get more roles in the future.
Katt’s takes in the show were certainly excessive but it did make more than 84 million people think hard on his claims.
