“I Just Don’t Want To Play For Clicks”: Cormani McClain Breaks Silence After Exiting Deion Sanders’ CU

Cormani McClain has caused a ruckus after entering the transfer portal that left a lot of fans confused about his situation with Deion Sanders’ CU. Answering questions about his ongoing scenario and most importantly his future, the former five-star CB voiced out his side of the story, via his YouTube channel.

Having already entered the portal, it seems the young CB has a chip on his shoulder against CU and especially Coach Prime which was evident from his message on YT. Cormani McClain took to YouTube to answer some of the questions from his fans.

Q: What are some things you’re looking forward to at your next place?

A: I’m just ready to bring the old version of me out and change the narrative of everyone’s thinking on my name. Be a part of a real and a great program that’s going to impact me at my best ability, and yeah ready to get to a new place and get to work.

Q: What’s your biggest impact right now?

A: I would say standing on top of school, you know you got to make sure grades everything’s great, and the transfer portal. I don’t know why everybody says the school part about me. I got A’s and B’s, so it’s never the school part just to clear that up with you guys. And yeah stand on top of school it’s the biggest impact right now.

Q: What is your message to your next school?

A: Just know whoever you are, you’re getting a dog that’s ready to work and yeah that’s a simple fact. You already know, no hard feelings some people just got to take a step back from things sometimes, certain people you know. I feel like I just don’t want to play for clicks, I actually want to be involved with a great leading program that’s going to develop players.

Deion Sanders’ Struggles With Cormani McClain

Despite Cormani teaming up with Coach Prime’s CU in 2023, it seemed his side of commitment was missing. He was not a part of the first three games of the season that set the pace for the team.

When asked about Cormani’s limited involvement with the team early on, Coach Prime said he had to “study, prepare, be on time to meetings, show up to the darn meetings, understand what we’re doing as a scheme.”

However, his progress did show up during their game against Caleb Williams’ USC when he had a blast so much so that he received a shoutout from Coach Prime himself.

Cormani McClain As a Gator

Upon entering the transfer portal, McClain reportedly received offers from Alabama, Georgia, Ohio State, Michigan, Florida State, Oklahoma, LSU and Tennessee. However, he ended up picking the University of Florida as his landing spot, and for a very good reason.

It felt like a homecoming for Cormani since he was born and raised in Lakeland, Florida which is just 120 miles away from his college. Furthermore, he initially committed to Miami before flipping it to join Coach Prime in January 2023.

In Florida, he has been making back-to-back appearances and sometimes even making game-changing plays like his pick 6 against Kentucky.

That said, things haven’t been his side all the time since he was seemingly cooked against Georgia WR Arian Smith.

Upon reaching the Gators, McClain signed NIL deals with Florida Victorious and Greensleeve. Although On3 hasn’t revealed the NIL valuation of McClain but it is estimated to be in the north of $300,000.
