Coach Prime has always been that old-school coach who has a keen eye on the class that his players put up. Because of this, he has several rules in place and he doesn’t tolerate anyone breaking them. Recently, he put up another rule to ensure his players know how to respect women.
Deion Sanders is a big advocate of setting up a spotless culture in his facility that produces men out of boys. Teaching boys to treat the opposite gender with respect is the first step towards it.
Enforcing this new culture in place, Coach Prime set the record straight in his first team meeting after a long break. The speech was captured by Reach The People Media on YouTube.
“We want to respect all women,” he said. “We have some wonderful women in this program and we’re going to always call them ‘Miss’ and then their name, and ‘Yes ma’am’ and ‘No ma’am.’ Do not call them about their name and that’s it. Put something proceeding that. That’s old school that’s how we get down.”
By setting up this new rule Deion taught his players that calling the women staff by their first names was nothing but disrespectful. Additionally, this would instill a new mindset in the youngsters of how women need to be treated in the workplace and outside.
Deion Sanders Ensures Team Bonding With a Strict Policy
Although this was one crucial change made in the CU facility, but this wasn’t the only rule that was set up by Deion Sanders. With the new season starting in around 90 days, Prime took a necessary measure to help his team create an unbreakable bond.
He announced that no player was allowed to use their phones the moment they entered the cafeteria for breakfast and lunch. The reason behind this decision was to make his players mingle with one another in common spaces.
A similar rule has been in place for the CU conference room. The wall outside of the room shows a sign that reads “No earrings, no hats, no phones, no food or drinks.”
Prime is very particular about his rules which is something one of his players got a taste of early during Spring practice. He threw one of his players out for bringing his phone into the conference room for which he was suspended from practice for two days straight.
Coach Prime Teaches His Players a Lesson About Cleanliness
Prime is never one of those people who lets their kids be entitled. He makes them earn everything which teaches humility and respect for things. In an attempt to teach his locker room the same, he called out his players for leaving the locker room dirty after practice.
In one of his morning meetings with the team, he showed his players a video of the locker room after practice, all filthy and messy with the garbage left behind. Prime knew exactly which players littered the place but the punishment was given to the entire team.
“So we know whose lockers those were, correct? But we’re a team. So all of us are going to pay for that. It’s our house. Why would you leave the crib, if somebody was raised like that and your parents let you get down like that, I’m not one of those parents. So we’re gonna take care of that at the practice today,” Prime said.
This is one of many ways that Coach Prime is teaching his players to be gentlemen and competent in whatever field they may choose to pursue a career in.
