The Los Angeles Rams will travel to South Florida to take on the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in a Monday Night showdown that will feature two teams coming off impressive wins last time out.
The Rams come into tonight’s game with a record of 6-3, however, all three of their losses have come on the road. The Rams defense was very impressive last week slowing down the red-hot Seahawks offense by holding them to 16 points.
The Tampa Bay Buccaneers are 7-3 but still a game out of first in their division after the New Orleans Saints posted a win without Drew Brees. Tampa blasted the Carolina Panthers last week putting up 46 points en route to yet another win. Tampa has won four of their last five and hold a 3-1 home record this season.
The temperature will be in the high sixties with no rain and a slight breeze at kickoff. Let’s take a look at some wagers for tonight’s game.
Jared Goff Under 279.5 Passing Yards (-125)
The blueprint has been drawn on how to beat the Rams, bring pressure! Goff will pick apart teams that cannot generate pressure, but when he faces a team that can get to him, he becomes a completely different quarterback. Goff’s quarterback rating is 94.9 on the season, but when he faces pressure his rating drops to the low 30’s. If he doesn’t have time to check all of his receivers his performance plummets. Goff also needs the running game to be productive so that the offense can feed off the play-action passing game.
On the other side of the ball, Todd Bowles will be calling the defense for Tampa Bay. Bowles is the best in the NFL at disguising blitzes and bringing pressure. Tampa also possesses one of the best run-stopping unit in the league.
Goff will not have time to read the field and this is a nightmare matchup for him.
Tampa Bay Bucs -4.5 (-110)
The Bucs cannot afford to let this one get away from them or they will be in an unfavorable position for the playoffs. Tampa will be able to knock Jared Goff off the spot and cause confusion with him all night long. The Rams also have trouble on the road and they will be traveling tonight. Get down on the Buccaneers!
Rob Gronkowski Over 31.5 Receiving Yards (-118)
Since Week 3 this season, Gronk has only had two games that he did not surpass this total. In both of those games, he only had one catch. Gronk looks to be rejuvenated and Brady looks to him more often every week.
The Rams pass defense was very impressive last week. Jalen Ramsey shut down D.K. Metcalf. With all of the weapons in the Tamp Bay offense, Ramsey will be forced to blanket either Chris Godwin or Mike Evans. This will cause matchup problems for the Rams tonight. Gronkowski has made a living off creating matchup problems.
As this season has progressed, the Bucs are also using Gronk in the vertical passing game. Most of his receptions are on seam routes up the field. Look for Gronk to get over this total early.
