Carolina Panthers RB Christian McCaffrey returned to the field last week. It was his first game back since suffering a high ankle sprain in week 2. McCaffrey immediately assumed his role as the top back in Carolina. He carried the ball 18 times for 69 yards and a touchdown while adding 10 catches for 82 yards and another score.
Fantasy owners able to hold on to McCaffrey for the past seven weeks were no doubt excited about his return shoring up one of their RB slots. Unfortunately, he may end up missing more time:
#Panthers RB Christian McCaffrey, dealing with a painful shoulder injury suffered Sunday, won’t practice today, source said. His status for Sunday is further in doubt.

Should McCaffrey miss this week and any weeks going forward, Mike Davis will get the nod at RB. He was dropped from 23.3% of ESPN leagues last week due to McCaffrey’s return, so there is a solid chance he’s available to pick up. Even with McCaffrey’s return last week, Davis was able to score 8.7 points in PPR which could be enough to get through your remaining bye-weeks.
