Week 9 was full of high-scoring affairs, void of political ads and for once football felt real. We had nine games where they were decided by 10 points or less.
There were lots of great performances today, but I had three that were at the elite level. Keep in mind, not all my winners/losers have to win their game. I had six players that stood out to me, including one that convinced is the best player at his position.
Bills QB Josh Allen
All I heard was Bills quarterback Josh Allen was “falling back to earth” and does not deserve to be in the MVP conversation. While not an MVP candidate, Allen played like one today against Seattle who has the worst pass defense in the NFL. He was unstoppable! 31 for 38, 415 yards, three touchdowns, and a rushing touchdown. I hope I see more performances like this in the second half of the season.

Vikings RB Dalvin Cook
Back again for the second week in a row is the best running back in the NFL. No, it’s not Christian McCaffrey, but he was terrific. I’m talking about the Minny Machine, Dalvin Cook. Last week he had over 225 all-purpose yards and four touchdowns against the Packers. This week he eclipsed it beautifully with 22 carries, 206 yards and two touchdowns. He averaged nearly 10 yards a carry over the slumping Lions defense. His numbers for the season, I’ll need the glasses for this one. 144 carries, 858 yards, 12 touchdowns.
Next up is a showdown in Chicago on Monday Night Football. I wonder who I will recommend starting at running back? Let me think, I’ll get it.

Cardinals QB Kyler Murray
Last week, I told fantasy football participants to be watching out for Cardinals quarterback Kyler Murray. Win or lose, I had a feeling he was going to have a great day. Did he ever! It’s a bummer he lost to the Dolphins but if you looked at his numbers. You would think he did win. 21 for 26, 283 yards, three touchdowns through the air. On the ground, he ran it 11 times for 106 yards and a rushing touchdown. If you thought Murray should have played baseball over football. Today that argument went six feet under complete with a bagpipe farewell.

Steelers RB James Conner
Hear me out, Steelers nation. I think the world about James Conner but he was a non-factor on Sunday. The Cowboys rush defense is 31st in the league and gives up nearly 160 yards per game. Not today. Nine carries for 22 yards? I was blown away especially when he has five touchdowns this year. That game really left me befuddled. Let’s hope Conner is back on track against Cincinnati next week.
Fantasy points: 2
Seahawks WR Tyler Lockett
Hey, now. I think we have to say DK Metcalf is one of the top five receivers in the game. Why? Because he is getting the bulk of the receptions which leaves talented players like Tyler Lockett with only a couple receptions. Since his bombastic Week 7 performance where he scored three times and put up 200 yards. He has eight receptions, 73 yards, and no touchdowns. Wow.

Colts RB Nyheim Hines
Next time you go outside at nighttime, if you see a shooting star. You make a wish, right? The NFL equivalent of a shooting star is Colts running back Nyheim Hines. Oh my, people were gushing after his two-touchdown performance last week in Detroit. He had three receptions for 54 yards. I mean settle down, jeez. Welcome back to reality, have you met the Ravens defense? Grand total for the day. 38 all-purpose yards.
Now, make a wish and find another running back.
