The 49ers shut down their facility earlier today with wide receiver Kendrick Bourne testing positive for COVID-19. Since then, the 49ers officially placed tackle Trent Williams and wideouts Brandon Aiyuk and Deebo Samuel on the COVID-19/reserve list as they were considered high-risk, coming in close contacts with Bourne.
San Fransisco just waived wide receiver Dante Pettis (picked up by the Giants) and the team is extremely thin at the position heading into their Thursday Night tilt against the Packers. Samuel wasn’t expected to play but Bourne and Aiyuk were expected to lead the unit and provide QB Nick Mullens with serviceable options. Now, Trent Taylor is the only fully healthy and available wideout for the team.
Wideout Richie James, who hasn’t yet caught a pass this year, is dealing with an ankle injury and is questionable for the contest. San Fransisco has three wide receivers on the practice squad who could be called up. Former No. 7 overall pick Kevin White, rookie Chris Finke (Notre Dame), and 2017 undrafted wideout River Cracraft.
