Several teams are calling the Texans about their veteran players and rival executives believe the team will trade at least one of their top receivers—Will Fuller or Brandin Cooks—before the trade deadline, CBS Sports’ Jason La Canfora reports. Houston is also expected to gauge the market for pass-rusher Whitney Mercilus.
Running back Duke Johnson and tight end Darren Fells have each drawn interest as well and the Texans are open for business, as they look to replenish their draft stock. Houston is without a first or second-round pick in the 2021 NFL Draft.

More Notes From Around The NFL
- Gardner Minshew‘s time as the starter in Jacksonville may not last much longer. The former sixth-rounder could be benched in favor of Mike Glennon if he continues to struggle, NFL.com’s Ian Rapoport hears. The Jaguars haven’t won a game since Week 1 and Minshew’s had fumbling issues that have contributed to the lack of success. It’s possible that the team eventually turns to rookie Jake Luton, who was the team’s sixth-round pick in this year’s draft.
- The Bengals are looking to trade DE Carlos Dunlap, according to Ian Rapoport of NFL.com. The former Pro Bowler had some issues with his recent demotion and while Cincy is obviously in rebuild mode, Jonathan Jones of CBS Sports hears that executives around the league are getting the sense that the Bengals want too much for their veterans.
- Baker Mayfield‘s job is not in jeopardy, Mary Kay Cabot of Cleveland.com reports. Backup Case Keenum entered the game for the Browns last week with Mayfield nursing a rib injury.
