The 49ers cannot catch a break.
49ers running back Raheem Mostert suffered a high ankle sprain and is “most likely” heading to the injured reserve, according to Nick Wagoner of ESPN. Mostert has been healthy for less than two weeks after he missed two games, due to a knee sprain.
San Francisco had great expectations for the sixth-year running back after a breakout 2019 season where he rushed 137 times for 772 yards and eight touchdowns. Mostert agreed to a three-year contract worth nearly 9 million during training camp.
The 49ers will be dependent on rookie back JaMycal Hasty who showed potential in Sunday’s win over the Rams with 9 carries for 37 yards. They will also count on Jerick Mckinnon (three touchdowns this year) and Jeff Wilson, Jr. to pick up the slack in the backfield.
