Los Angeles Chargers Austin Ekeler

Austin Ekeler caught 92 passes on his way to becoming the No. 4 scoring running back last season (PPR) and he’s in position to again be a top back.

However, he’s not being drafted like a top back, going on average at No. 21 overall since the beginning of August, behind Kenyan Drake and Josh Jacobs, two backs with arguably way more risk than the Los Angeles stud.

Melvin Gordon is out of the picture, which means Ekeler won’t have anyone in his way for touches, especially in the passing game (Gordon took his 162 carries and 55 targets to Denver). Ekeler should be a late first-rounder; an early second at worst, and he’s a value at his current spot.

  • Gardner Minshew and Tyler Eifert have had a solid connection during the Jaguars’ training camp, John Shipley of Sports Illustrated notes. Eifert signed with Jacksonville this offseason.
  • Adam Thielen‘s over/under for receiving yards in 2020 is 1,049.5 and Max Staley of FanDuel believes that total is “disrespectful.” The Vikings WR surpassed that total in 2017 and in 2018, though last season, a hamstring injury limited him to just 10 games and 418 receiving yards.
  • Le’Veon Bell hopes to have QB Sam Darnold healthy for all 16 games in 2020. “We just have to make sure he stays healthy,” Bell said (via Rich Cimini of ESPN). “I told him, ‘No bars.'” Bell, referring to Darnold potentially getting COVID-19 at a bar, played in 15 games for the Jets last season, while the former No. 3 overall pick only played in 13.
