The Cleveland Browns defense took a big hit on Monday when rookie safety Grant Delpit went down with a lower leg injury. Cleveland feared the worst and on Tuesday, the MRI results revealed those fears to be true; Delpit tore his Achillies, which will require season-ending surgery, via the team.
The rookie was expected to be the starting free safety this season. Along with Delpit, his former LSU teammate, Greedy Williams, left practice with a shoulder injury. The extent of the injury is unknown at this time, but the former Geaux Tigers were expected to help the Cleveland secondary this season.
This just adds to the injury woes of the Browns during training camp. Linebacker Mack Wilson will be sidelined for a bit with a knee injury. Wilson will seek a second opinion from Dr. James Andrews to determine if he has to have surgery. Cornerback Kevin Johnson, who has been impressive in camp, suffered a lacerated liver, but he is expected to come back soon.
