The 49ers considered bringing in Tom Brady, as the 6-time Super Bowl champion went through his free agency. Brady ultimately signed a two-year deal with the Buccaneers and although, it’s not clear how serious San Fran was, they informed Jimmy Garoppolo of their intentions. The QB was not fazed.

“It kind of comes with the territory,” Garoppolo said (via The Athletic). “It comes with the job.”

“The one thing I can say about the whole situation was Kyle and John were very honest with me the whole time,” Garoppolo added. “That’s their job — to put the best team together possible and you’ve got to respect that. So as long as the honesty and truthfulness is there, I respect those guys, I love those guys. And it’s going to be a fun year this year.”

Coach Kyle Shanahan and GM John Lynch previously indicated that they kept Jimmy G in the loop as much as possible.

“We looked into it to try to see if it would be better for our team this year and in the future,” Shanahan previously said. “And when we weighed it all together, we didn’t think it would. And we felt great with where we’re at. Kind of confirmed how we are with Jimmy.”

Garoppolo finished the year with 3978 passing yards, which was 22 yards short of being the franchise’s first 4,000-yard passer since Jeff Garcia in 2000. Oh, and he led his team to the Super Bowl.
