The Dolphins are attempting to make a last-minute trade for the No. 1 pick, as PFT’s Mike Florio relays. Cincy would need to be blown away to trade out of the No. 1 slot and there has been no indication that they are seriously considering a trade out of that pick.

Joe Burrow is Miami’s target and is expected to be the selection regardless of which team has the pick. Burrow is just one of the QBs expected to be selected in round 1 with Tua Tagovailoa, Justin Herbert and Jordan Love expected to be selected in the round (though there are rumblings that Love could fall).

Chris Raybon of The Action Network likes under on 4.5 QBs taken in the first round:

The consensus fifth QB projected to go off the board is Jacob Eason (Washington), who has a median projection of pick No. 65 in ESPN’s model. His best-case scenario in the model doesn’t even make the first round, topping out at No. 34 overall. The other possibilities are Jake Fromm (Georgia) and Jalen Hurts (Oklahoma), who both have medians outside the top 80 and best-case projections no better than No. 50.

Here are more notes prior to Day 1 of the NFL Draft:

  • In Mel Kiper’s final mock draft on ESPN, he has Tua going to the Dolphins at No. 5 despite rumors that they prefer Justin Herbert. Fan Duel has the O/U on Tagovailoa’s draft slot at 5.5. The Dolphins are also favorite (-150) to draft Tua.
  • Herbert’s O/U is also 5.5. Kiper has him going to the Chargers at No. 6.
  • The Raiders, Steelers, and Patriots are co-favorites to land Jalen Hurts, per Fan Duel. Each has odds of +450.
